PRESS RELEASE
The Sikh Community will be gathering outside the Indian Consulate in Birmingham on Wednesday 30th December 2009, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. To peacefully protest and lobby against the Ludhiana incident, in which Sikhs protesting against Asutoush were shot at by the Indian Security forces.
A Petition will be given to Consulate General condemning the increase in dera culture in Panjab and the lack of action taken by the Indian authorities in curbing these groups that indulge in inciting religious hatred. The Sikh Community will press for action against the ruling Akali Dal /BJP government and the local administration responsible for the failure of law and order in Ludhiana..
This protest will coincide with protests in Panjab organised by the Sant Samaj, Sikh Jathebandia and Human Rights Groups demanding action against the individuals behind the killing and maiming of innocent Sikhs.
Our brothers and Sisters stood in the line of intimidation and bullets for the Satkar of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, we are requesting all Sikhs just to give up 2 hours in their remembrance, and to let the authorities know that Sikhs around the world are united against this atrocity.
