Karva Chauth not for Sikhs

Karva chauth is today and is a Hindu practice where women/girls fast, however some people that consider them selves a Sikh follow this practice too...please let us re-affirm the message from our Sikh Guru Sahib, Dhan Dhan Shiri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj,
Maharaj clearly rejected the idea of fasting:

ਛੋਡਹਿ ਅੰਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ॥ ਨਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਨਾ ਓਹਿ ਰੰਡ ॥

She who partakes in forsaking grain and doing such a hypocrisy is neither married nor widowed.

Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 873.

varath naem karai bahu bhaathee ||
keeping fasts and making vows of all sorts

nehee thul raam naam beechaar ||
- none of these are equal to the contemplation of the Name of the Lord,

naanak guramukh naam japeeai eik baar ||1||
O Nanak, if, as Gurmukh, one chants the Naam, even once. ||1||

Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 265

You cannot be both Sikh and Hindu? You choose are you going to follow Sikhi or another faith??
We do not hold anything against any faith, however we do humbly request Sikhs to follow the Sikh path properly, pretty simple really. Thanks. Our Guru has taken us away from Pakhand such as this - STAY TRUE TO YOUR ROOTS!
