Amritsar (August 10, 2012): Dal Khalsa’s
political Secretary Kanwarpal Singh met US diplomats Mr Chad
Thornberry, First Secretary (Political) and A Sukesh, Adviser Political
affairs for 10 minutes at Information office of the Darbar Sahib.
Both the diplomats attached with US
Embassy at New Delhi came to Amritsar on the invitation of the SGPC to
attend the Prayer Meeting held at Darbar Sahib complex in memory of
those 6 innocent Sikhs killed in Wisconsin.
Kanwar Pal told the American authorities
that this tragic incident was a clear case of hate crime. He said that
Sikhs do believe that this incident was symptomatic of a much deeper
insanity that is lurking on US soil. He urged them to neutralize people
with such mentality.
He thanked American government for its
massive positive response and the magnanimity its leadership has shown
in assuaging the hurt sentiments of the Sikh Diaspora. He looked from
American officials more drastic measures to stop recurrence of such
incidents in future, hoping that this will be a one off incident.
Earlier, while addressing the Sikh
Sangat at Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, Mr Chad Thornberry expressed
solidarity with the Sikh community and paid homage to victims. He
delivered the message of US Ambassador Madam Nancy Powell. The Samagam
was presided by Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib and SGPC president Jathedar
Avtar Singh.
