Sikh body expresses condolences on the demise of Jamaat-e-Islami’s former chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmad


Amritsar, Punjab (January 06, 2012): Dal Khalsa has expressed its condolences on the demise of Jamaat-e-Islami’s former chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, who had passed away in Pakistan last night.

Expressing their grief, the party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said Qazi Hussain Ahmed was a friend of Sikhs. He supported the cause of Sikh right to self-determination wholeheartedly.
“I know Qazi Sahib personally and he was very simple, sober but stubborn person”, said Kanwarpal Singh and added that Qazi was one of the most prominent religious personality of Pakistan having deep ideological leanings.
Qazi Hussain, 74 was cardiac patient for a long time besides he suffered from asthma. He was admitted into a private hospital at Islamabad for the last three days, where he succumbed to a severe heart attack.
He was elected as Ameer (Chief) of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan in 1987, and continued to serve in that capacity, getting re-elected four more times (1992, 1994, 1999, 2003).
