UK Sikh diaspora to protest outside Indian high commission on India’s ‘republic day’ on January 26

London, United Kingdom (January 22, 2013): As per information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the Sikh diaspora of United Kingdom (UK) was planning to hold a peaceful protest demonstration in front of Indian High Commission in London on 26 January, 2013. It is notable that India observes January 26 as the “republic day”.

According to Punjab24.Com news: Dal Khalsa UK’s leader Bhai Manmohan Singh informed journalists that the Sikh organizations of U.K. shall be holding a protest demonstration in-front of India High Commission to protest against continues denial by Indian state to recognize the Sikh identity.

“Article 25 of the Indian Constitution terms Sikhs as ‘Hindus’, and denies separate religious identity of the Sikhs” Manmohan Singh reportedly claimed.
Besides Sikhs, people belonging to other struggling nations of the peninsula – such as Nagas and Kashmiris, shall also participate in the demonstration, he informed.
