Decision on Prof Bhullar shocking and disturbing: Dal Khalsa‏

Sikhs outside 10 Downing St Central London Throughout The Night Protesting Against The Death Sentence
The Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh has termed the dismissal of petition of Prof Devinderpal Singh Bhullar as shocking and disturbing for people of Punjab in general and Sikh community in particular.
He said, the decision was travesty of justice as Prof Bhullar is on death row since 18 years. Secondly he was given punishment on the basis of confessional statement taken by police officer under torture. Thirdly it was a split verdict as the then Chief Justice acquitted him. Fourthly, he was deported from Germany, where capital punishment is not given. To drive his point home, he quoted Indian government giving a word to Italian government in the case of Italian marines facing murder charges in Hindutva India.

He said in the wake of secretly hanging of Afzal Guru, the J&K chief minister took a jibe at Indian state and said in public that "the state is selective in the case of death convicts". Ever since then the Sikhs were apprehending that the next target will be a Sikh. With today's SC decision, our fears might come true, he said.
The Sikh community has been honoured by many martyrs during the last 30 years struggle and Prof Bhullar, if hanged would be addition to that honoured list, he observed.
