MESSAGE TO THE SIKH NATION ON INDIA'S SO CALLED REPUBLIC DAY

Observe India’s ‘Republic Day’ as ‘betrayal day’: Sikh body, Dal Khalsa, to Ethnic minorities
By Parmjit Singh
Published: January 26, 2013
Jalandhar/Amritsar, Punjab (January 26,
2013):
Stressing on India’s history of broken promises in Punjab,
Kashmir and elsewhere, the Dal Khalsa has asked religious minorities and
ethnic nationalities residing in India to observe the ‘republic day’ as
‘betrayal day’.
In a statement released to media on the
eve of 64th anniversary of the Indian constitution, party head
Harcharanjeet Singh Dhami said the (Indian) constitution is a
constitution of convenience as the provisions of the document have been
used, misused and not used to suit the expedient needs of the Indian
state from time to time. The framers of this document defied the spirit
behind its formation and betrayed the commitment they made to Sikh
representatives before partition, he rued.
He said two major commitments to the
Sikhs were not fulfilled. One, recognition of the unique character of
the Sikh religion and two, the federal character of the constitution
were heavily compromised. Betrayal of promises by the Indian leadership
prompted the then Sikh representatives to declare in the Constituent
Assembly, “The Sikhs do not accept the Constitution”.
While India celebrates its 64th republic
year, we have no hesitation to place on record that the Constitution
has failed the Sikh people.
He said historically, religiously and
politically ‘Sikhs are a sui generis (sovereign) people’.
Notwithstanding the present status of the Sikhs in India today, the very
fact that India is unwilling to look at the ‘Sikh question’ as a
‘Nationality question’ enforces our belief and commitment to the right
for self-determination of Sikhs.
He said the last 64 years have been
tumultuous years of denial, torment, torture, mayhem, destruction,
vandalism and death. He said religious ethos and cultural identity of
ethnic minorities were on the verge of assimilation in the vast pantheon
of Indianism, he alleged.
In the present inclusive and pluralistic
world order, India has to grow up, not just in years and not only on
the economic front, but also on the social, cultural and political
front, he said and added that it was time for the Indian state to undo
the injustice done to its minorities through the Constitution, various
laws and regulations and the use of police, paramilitary and army.
He blamed the Indian state for being
very selfish, self-centered and hypocritical, unwilling to engage in
talks to evolve a wholesome and pluralistic resolution of the discord
between India and other nationalities. “India fears, but doesn’t bother
for international refrain”, he remarked.
The group made a fervent appeal to all
freedom-loving peoples and nationalities to join hands in their struggle
for ‘just cause’. “Though we all continue to face a belligerent India
but we remain confident that the democratic will of our people will see
the light of the day”.

UK Sikh diaspora to protest outside Indian high commission on India’s ‘republic day’ on January 26
London, United Kingdom (January 22,
2013): As per information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the
Sikh diaspora of United Kingdom (UK) was planning to hold a peaceful
protest demonstration in front of Indian High Commission in London on 26
January, 2013. It is notable that India observes January 26 as the
“republic day”.
According to Punjab24.Com news: Dal
Khalsa UK’s leader Bhai Manmohan Singh informed journalists that the
Sikh organizations of U.K. shall be holding a protest demonstration
in-front of India High Commission to protest against continues denial by
Indian state to recognize the Sikh identity.
“Article 25 of the Indian Constitution
terms Sikhs as ‘Hindus’, and denies separate religious identity of the
Sikhs” Manmohan Singh reportedly claimed.
Besides Sikhs, people belonging to other
struggling nations of the peninsula – such as Nagas and Kashmiris,
shall also participate in the demonstration, he informed.

Gurdwara Refuses To Hold Prayers For Gen Dayal - Killer Of Sikhs - Hindutva Media Starts Propaganda
MORE ANTI SIKH PROPAGANDA BY THE HINDUTVA MEDIA
Gurdwara Refues To Hold Akhand Paath For Gen Dayal Killer Of Sikhs
Panchkula (Haryana): As per reports the
Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Sector 7 of Panchkula, Haryana has declined to
entertain a request by the family of Indian Army’s former Lt. Gen.
Ranjit Singh Dyal to hold a prayer service on his first death
anniversary this month.
The refusal was reportedly conveyed on December 30, 2012 to former army officer Dyal’s widow Barinder Kaur Dyal.
It is notable that R. S. Dyal was one of
the commanding officers of Operation Blue Star, in which Indian army
had attacked various Sikh Gurudwaras in June 1984 in Punjab and
adjoining states.
As per an online news portal “Punjab
News Line” (PNL)’s news report the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak
Committee (SGPC), which controls management of majority of historic
Gudwaras in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, has reportedly backed
the refusal of the Panchkula Gurdwara, saying it was the ‘right thing to
do’.
“When the family approached the gurdwara
for his prayer service, the management said that it could not give
permission as there was objection from certain sections of the Sikh
community over his role in Operation Bluestar. They said that he (Gen.
Dyal) should have quit the army instead of leading the attack on the
Golden Temple,” an unnamed family source was quotes to have said by PNL.
When Gen. Dyal, who had Z-plus category
security, died in January last year, the family had organised his prayer
service at the same gurdwara, the report adds.
“This time, the gurdwara management
refused to hold the prayers for his first death anniversary, saying that
some sections of the community had objected to it,” an unnamed family
source is quoted to have said.
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar
reportedly said: “If the gurdwara management has taken this decision,
they must have given a thought to it. The Golden Temple is the most
sacred shrine of Sikhs. Dyal led the forces, saying that he was
duty-bound. He should have realised that this was his religion’s most
sacred place”.
“Usne prayer kya karani jisne guru (Guru Granth Sahib) ki chhati mein goli lagayi hui hai
(Why should he (Dyal) have a prayer service when he has shot the guru
in the chest). We have the Guru Granth Sahib with the bullet. He led the
forces in doing that,” PNL has quoted Avtar Singh Makkar to have said,
dismissing the plea of the family of Gen. Dyal.
It is notable that “Operation Blue Star”
was code-name for Indian army’s attack on various Sikh Gurudwaras in
Punjab and adjoining states, including Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple)
of Amritsar. In this armed attack Indian army used tanks to destroy the
historic building of Akal Takhat Sahib, the seat of Sikh sovereignty. As
per credible sources and historic documents thousands of Sikhs were
massacred in this army operation that was never reviewed by the army or
the Government.
Jathedar Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana presented before Rajpura court; Next court appearance on Jan 28 & Feb 04
Patiala, Punjab (January 21, 2013): As
per information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Bhai Balwant
Singh Rajoana was brought out of Patiala jail for the first time after
the postponement of death sentence in March 2012.
It is notable that Balwant Singh Rajoana
had admitted during the trial of Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh
assassination case that he, along with Shaheed Dilawar Singh, had
assassinated Beant Singh. In a hand written statement he said that CM
Beant Singh was responsible for ordering mass level atrocities against
the civilian Sikh population of Punjab during his tenure as Punjab CM.
He refused to contest his case in the Indian courts expressing no faith
in Indian system or judiciary. He was sentenced to death by the trial
court but the sentence was subject to the confirmation of Punjab and
Haryana Hight Court. The High Court had also confirmed the sentence
awarded by the trial court.
In March 2012, a Chandigarh court had
issued execution warrants of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana directing the
Patiala Jail authorities to execute him on March 31, 2012. But later the
execution was postponed as certain political parties had approached the
President of India seeking commutation of death sentence in this case.
The President of India has taken no decision so far.
Since March 2012 Bhai Balwant Singh
Rajoana was not moved out of the Central Jail, Patiala to appear before
the some local courts, where certain matters are pending against him.
But as per recent reports Bhai Rajoana
was produced in a Rajpura court on January 21, 2013 by the Patiala
polcie in FIR no. 116/95 under Explosives Act. He was presented before
Additional session judge Sanjeev Beri’s court and the court has
reportedly fixed January 28, 2012 as next date for hearing.
As per information available with Sikh
Siyasat News (SSN) Bhai Rajoana was also presented in the court of judge
Ravinder Singh where is facing a trial for FIR no. 302 of 1995 under
Arms Act. The court has reportedly fixed February 04, 2013 as next date
of hearing in this matter.
Various media sections have reported
that tight security arrangements were made by Punjab police in wake of
Rajoana’s court appearance. Shaminder Singh, SHO of Police station
Lahori Gate (Patiala) was reportedly commanding the security
arrangements under the supervision of SP City Daljit Singh Rana.
As per media reports a police officer
named ASI Boparai misbehaved with the media persons, particularly with
the cameramen. Arvind Thakur of PTC News channel reportedly told “Jag
Bani” (a daily newspaper published from Jalandhar) that he possessed the
recording of ASI Boparai abusing the media persons.
Jathedar Rajaona refused to extend support any of the contestants in Delhi Sikh elections
Rajpura/Patiala, Punjab (January 22,
2013): Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who was brought to Rajpura by Punjab
police under tight security on January 21, 2013 for court appearance in
two different cases, has reportedly told media persons that he would not
support any of the contestants in Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management
Committee (DSGMC) polls that are scheduled to be held on January 27,
2013.
As per a news report published in Daily
Ajit (a Punjabi newspaper published from Jalandhar) Bhai Rajoana was
replying to the question posed by some journalist.
He reportedly said that one party is
connected with anti-Sikh Congress while the other party while the other
party is also unclean. He was referring to factions of Shiromani Akali
Dal led by Sarna Brothers of Delhi and Badal family of Punjab.
It is notable in last Shiromani
Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) elections that were held in
September 2011 Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana had supported the candidates
of Shriomani Akali Dal led by Babal Family, but this time he has
apparently detached himself from the polls of DSGMC.
SGPC manages the affairs of historic
Sikh Gurudwaras located in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal
Pardesh and Chandgiarh where as DSGMC manages the affairs of Sikh
Gurudwaras in Delhi. Both are statutory bodies formed under different
enactments and the their members are elected by the votes of registered
Sikh voters.
