Sikh Protest In Birmingham Against Ashutosh & Indian Govt.

PRESS RELEASE

The Sikh Community will be gathering outside the Indian Consulate in Birmingham on Wednesday 30th December 2009, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. To peacefully protest and lobby against the Ludhiana incident, in which Sikhs protesting against Asutoush were shot at by the Indian Security forces.

A Petition will be given to Consulate General condemning the increase in dera culture in Panjab and the lack of action taken by the Indian authorities in curbing these groups that indulge in inciting religious hatred. The Sikh Community will press for action against the ruling Akali Dal /BJP government and the local administration responsible for the failure of law and order in Ludhiana..

This protest will coincide with protests in Panjab organised by the Sant Samaj, Sikh Jathebandia and Human Rights Groups demanding action against the individuals behind the killing and maiming of innocent Sikhs.

Our brothers and Sisters stood in the line of intimidation and bullets for the Satkar of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, we are requesting all Sikhs just to give up 2 hours in their remembrance, and to let the authorities know that Sikhs around the world are united against this atrocity.

Sikh groups join hands ‘to oust Badal from SGPC’

Bringing up a joint front against the Badal government, Panthic organisations have decided to contest the upcoming SGPC polls urging Sikh groups across the world to prevent SAD members from addressing religious gatherings in their areas. The announcements came following a rally held by these radical groups which came together at the Jor Mela on Friday.
Taking a tough stance against the SAD president and Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal, members of the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC), SAD (Panch Pardhani), Dal Khalsa, Panthic Council and Sikh Students’ Federation joined hands to “cleanse” the SGPC from the corrupt “gang of Badal and his coterie”.



Sikh groups fired salvo against Parkash Singh Badal and his son Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal for patronising self-styled godmen and allowing Hindutva forces a free hand in Punjab. “They can do anything for politics,” said KAC Chairman Bhai Mokham Singh. Blaming the Badal duo for the Ludhiana violence where a Sikh, Darshan Singh Lohara, was killed in police firing on December 5, he urged the Sikhs world over to boycott Akali ministers. The leaders also paid tributes to Lohara and passed a resolution declaring him a “martyr of the faith”. Another resolution was also passed urging the gurdwara management committees not to allow Akali ministers to speak from gurdwara stages because of their proximity with so-called deras and cults mushrooming in Punjab and other areas.

Opposing the “Badalisation of the SGPC”, speakers lambasted the SAD leadership for ruining Sikh institutions including Akal Takht for political mileage. “Oust Badal from gurdwaras,” they said. Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, the organiser of today’s conference, blamed SAD for “all the ills plaguing the Sikh institutions”. “We pledge to raise a joint platform with other like-minded groups to defeat Badals in the SGPC elections,” he added. Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh asked the Sikhs to reject those who have posed threat to the basic fundamentals of Sikh religion for their benefits.

Burning of the Guru Granth Sahib by hindu extremists in Uttar Pradesh

Tension gripped Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district Monday as hundreds of Sikhs carried out protests over desecration of their holy scripture.Hindu extremists burnt pages of the holy scripture outside a Sikh shrine Sunday night. The desecration was noticed by community members Monday morning.

Agitated over the burning of the Guru Granth Sahib, Sikhs protested in the Fakarpur area in Bahraich, some 270 km from Lucknow,U.P police showed their real face regarding these protest and tried to crash the protest by attacking the protesters.It is rather strange the country claiming to be largest democracy in the world has no place for human rights of the minorities even for peace full protest.

“Taking into account the protests, additional security has been deployed in Fakarpur and its adjoining areas,” Police Inspector Brijendra Singh told reporters in Bahraich.“The situation is tense but under control. We have already arrested three Hindu extremists, who have been charged with burning the holy book. Efforts are on to nab others, who were involved,” he added.

its is strange that when Hindu extremists take their violent protest regarding sensitivity to their faith they never challenged by the same police,even when they are targeting minorities.

Sikh bodies took Panjab Government to task

Amritsar December 07^th, 2009

Responding to the call of Damdami Taksal for Punjab shutdown on Dec 7, scores of activists of various organizations took out a joint procession on the streets and lanes of Amritsar to protest against the killing of Darshan Singh Lohara in Ludhiana on Dec 5. The demonstrators shouted slogans condemning the Punjab government for allowing the DJJS head Aushotosh to visit Punjab to address his followers.

It is pertinent to mention that one person was killed and 12 injured when police fired bullets on Sikhs protesting against the blasphemous activities of Nurmehal based DJJS.

The protestors shouted “Punjab Sarkar Murdabad”, “The BJP Murdabad” on their entire route. Talking with media persons at Hall gate, Damdami Taksal spokesperson Mohkam Singh, Dal Khalsa leader Kanwarpal Singh, Youth Federation leader Dr Gurjinder Singh blamed the chief minister for bowing to the dictates of the BJP. They demanded tough action Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana and the police officer who fired bullets on protestors.

Sikh Students Federation activists led by Amarjit Singh burnt the effigy of BJP and Aushotosh at Hall Gate. Bibi Sandeep Kaur of Dharam Singh Khalsa Trust also participated.

Kanwar Pal Singh said the police resorted to unprovoked firing, which was a repeat of the incident of Baisakhi Day in 1978 when neo-Nirankari activists had opened fire killing 13 Sikh protesters, leading to an era of unrest in the State. “Even then Mr. Badal was the Chief Minister,” he said.

Blaming both Congress and the BJP for patronizing the self-styled godmen, he warned national political parties to desist from playing with fire.

Police and paramilitary forces open fire and kill Sikh protesters on Saturday 5 December in Ludhiana, Punjab

I am writing to request you urgently raise the above matter on my behalf with the Foreign Secretary and the Indian authorities. Sikhs living the UK are outraged when we see such incidents of police brutality and discrimination. It is incidents like these of deliberate provocation and targeting that force Sikhs to think about their long term future in India.

On Saturday 5 December 2009 police and paramilitary forces opened fire to stop Sikh protesters, belonging to Sikh religious organisations, marching towards a controversial anti-Sikh two-day event organised in Ludhiana by Dera Divya Jyoti of Ashutosh,who is backed by facist Hindu Extremists led by the Nazi Worshipping RSS - Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

It has been confirmed at least one Sikh has been killed and around15 seriously injured. The photograph of Darshan Singh, the 58-year old that was shot dead, is available here

The death toll is expected to increase. Despite an indefinite curfew in the city there has been uproar across Punjab at the heavy handed action of the police and paramilitary forces. Upon seeing footage and photographs (photographs are available), reports are coming in of thousands of Sikhs preparing to travel to Ludhiana to participate in further protests.

Sikh religious organisations have called for a peaceful ‘bandh’ (closure) in Ludhiana and cases to be registered against Ashutosh and BJP MLA Harish Bedi, who is also reported to have fired shots at Sikh protesters. Meanwhile the Punjab government recognising the seriousness of the situation has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.

Sikhs are particularly upset as what has been interpreted as double standards and deliberate provocation of Sikhs. On Thursday and Friday following a minor incident there was widespread arson and violence by migrant workers in three-quarters of Ludhiana. This was permitted without any action taken by the police. However, the protest march by Sikh religious organisations on Saturday was met with the use of tear gas, batons and then live ammunition.

Dear Sir/Madam I write to express my sheer outrage at the BBC for once again ignoring Sikh issues/News/Events.

The BBC has for the last year been in the Media for ignoring issues which affect UK Sikhs,and for offending Sikhs with false reports and so on.

The latest issue is of the BBC being a respected news broadcaster of not covering in what was a virutal massacre of Sikhs in Ludhiana Panjab ,India on the 5th of December 2009.

This was headline news across India,and on all Asain TV channels along with radio stations.Sikhs had gathered to peacefully protest against an anti Sikh cult leader Ashutosh of the 'DJJS - Divya Jyoti Jagran Sansthan 'who has offended the Sikh nation time and time again.

We ask why with such a big Sikh Population in the UK the BBC has not covered this tragic event which has left the Sikh Nation in outrage across the World,even though the BBC has correspondents across the globe.Increasingly Sikh groups and Sikhs are viewing the BBC as an anti Sikh organisation,which has never covered any major events which affect Sikhs.While Hindu fanatics like the RSS/Indian Govt use the BBC to their advantage to make programmes like the one made on BBC Radio 4 last year to paint Sikhs as terrorists.When we the Sikhs have issues or problems they are never covered instead Sikhs are offended by the BBC time and time again eg:Show them as terrorists on BBC radio 4,Offend Sikhs by incorrect use of the Khanda saying the attacker was Sikh - what has the Sikh Symbol go to do with that?

The objective of the shutdown call is to register protest against the attacks engineered by the Ashutosh Dera,Police,Paranilitary,BSF,CRPF,RAF,BJP,Badal,RSS backed by the Congress and other radical Hindu Terrorist outfits to express anguish against the denial of justice to aggrieved Sikhs besides paying tributes to those who have been killed in a systematic and planned manner.

The Punjab government on Saturday evening ordered a magisterial probe into violent incidents in this industrial city that left one person dead and over 15 injured in a clash between police and Sikh protesters who tried to disrupt a religious conference of controversial sect leader Ashutosh .

One person was killed Saturday in police firing near Samrala crossing on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh highway. The victim was identified as Darshan Singh. At least two others were in serious condition.

Kanwarpal Singh Bittu of Dal Khalsa, told IANS that the police firing was unprovoked. "They suddenly opened fire as we were proceeding to the venue of the conference," .

But police blamed the protesters for indulging in violence.

"We tried to stop them but they attacked the police and tried to forcibly cross the barricades. They had come with full preparation and were carrying sticks and swords. To control the situation, police had to fire in the air to disperse the mob," a police officer said.

Ashutosh and other deras in Punjab are the part of plan of the Hindu fascists of converting Panjab to Hinduism and bringing it within the Hindutva fold of Hindi,Hindu,Hindustan. Dal Khalsa would like to clarify that Sikhs are not Hindu and are a separate and independent Nation. Hate for Muslims or any other faith is against the core principals of Sikhism.Hindutava is not a faith it is plain and simple fascism we as nation should stand against it and join all those in opposition of it.
