Gagandip Singh (Gagan47) - Panth Da Heera - Pride Of The Panth

Hundreds of mourners flocked to the funeral of TV executive Gagandip Singh, whose body was found in a burnt-out car.

The religious service took place on Saturday at the Gurdwara Sahib Woolwich in which scores of the Sikh community had travelled in coaches from Birmingham and other parts of London.

The 21-year-old Greenwich University student from Bexleyheath was found in a burnt-out Mercedes C-Class in Angerstein Lane, Blackheath, on February 26.

It is believed that he was still alive when the car was set alight. A post-mortem found he had severe head injuries.

During the service, family and friends recited religious chants and placed roses on the coffin which was adorned with photos.

Director of Sikh TV, Gursevak Singh, 31, said: “He got a good send-off. People will remember him in the right way. The family was quite shocked at the amount of people who turned up.

“A lot of Sikh leaders came to pay their respects including the mayor of Gravesend.”

Mr Singh was the chief executive officer of television channel Sikh TV and owned a college in Gravesend and two recruitment agencies in Plumstead and Croydon.

After the service, well-wishers headed to Hither Green Crematorium were friends delivered speeches.

In the condolence book which was placed in the temple, his sister, Amandip Kaur, wrote: “I will always miss you but I promise I will take care of mum just the way you did.

“I’m really proud that I have a brother like you. Love you.”

Mundill Kaur Mahil, 19, of Maidstone Road, Chatham, Kent, Harvinder Singh Shoker, 19, of Charlton Park Lane, Charlton, and Darren Peters, 19, of Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath, have all been charged with his murder.

All three teenagers will appear in court on June 6 for a plea and case management hearing.
